Creating a Twitter APP - A Guide For Marketers

Creating a Twitter App

Visit apps.twitter.com to create and configure your Twitter app.

Once it’s created you will receive credentials (a bunch of access tokens – long text-string keys) that will enable you to programatically ‘do lots of cool stuff‘ on your Twitter account (while you are sleeping).

We want a number of pieces of data at the end of this process.

  • Consumer key
  • Consumer secret
  • Access token
  • Acces token secret

Note: The App needs to be read/write (however this should be the default setting).

Click the button labeled “Create my Access Token” to generate the remaining required access token data.

Take a note of all the imporant credentials we need

  • consumer_key
  • consumer_secret
  • access_token
  • access_token_secret
